Sandi Piek, RYT 200

Thank you for stopping by! If you've been curious about yoga, and have wondered if it's for you, I'd love the opportunity to help you have a great experience.

I initially tried yoga as a skeptic, certain that it would be impossible for my body. Instead, yoga helped me discover that the body I’d always struggled with is actually quite amazing, and I found strength I didn’t know I had. My desire as a teacher is to provide a safe space, like the one I was given, for my students to explore the many benefits of yoga.

Hey everyone! Hopefully with things opening up more we're getting closer to being able to resume our classes. I'm so ready to see you all again! Keep watching this space and I'll update it when I know more.

Yoga Basics

In this class, I lead students through a series of postures, coordinated with breath, which can improve strength, balance, and flexibility. With minimal flow ("flowing" from one posture to the next) and ample instruction, this class is accessible to beginners as well as experienced practitioners who would like the opportunity to slow down a bit.
Tuesdays, 6:00-7:15pm, Rainier Room
  • Dates TBD

Cost

Classes are $48 for each six-week series

What You'll Need

Bring a mat and blanket (see below)
Blocks and straps are available for use

  • Mats: If you're choosing a new mat, look for one that is a little bit sticky to help keep you from sliding. Thicker mats can feel good on your knees, but can be a challenge for balance and easy movement.
  • Blankets: Your blanket should be thick enough to fold and sit on, and made from a material that won't slide on itself. A blanket can also provide extra padding for your knees. While Mexican blankets are often used for yoga, army blankets, not-so-holey afghans, and extra large beach towels are great too.

Private instruction can be helpful in beginning or refining your yoga practice.
  • Learn the basics and develop the confidence to practice on your own or in a group setting.
  • Get help with postures and transitions you find particularly challenging.
  • Learn to modify your practice if you're working with an injury or other physical challenge.

Words from a private student:
"
Private lessons with Sandi are one of the best things I've done for myself. She is knowledgeable, attentive, and completely dedicated to making the experience healthy and positive. I was blown away by how much time and care she invested in understanding my physical abilities and limitations, tailoring our sessions to my personal needs and helping me feel at ease and inspired. You can't leave a session with Sandi and not feel blessed and refreshed!"  - JF
